It is within the building of the Central Bank of Iran. The economic value is not determined since a collection of world unique gems are kept at the place. However, as one of Tehran museums, it is the manifestation of Iran’s art and civilization for centuries.

The imperial collection of the museum includes Darya-i-Noor Diamond, Coronation necklace, emerald necklace, the Noor-ol-Ain Tiara, Naderi throne, golden flagon, jeweled dish cover, coronation cape, Shah’s coronation belt, imperial sword.

Tehran museums: National Museum of Iran

National Museum of Iran

Located in the heart of Tehran, the museum is was designed by French architects André Godard and Maxime Siroux in the early 20th century. It is a brick building inspired by Sassanid Taq Kasra at Ctesiphon.

The museum has two parts: the Museum of Ancient Iran and the Museum of Islamic Archaeology and Art of Iran.

The museum houses 300,000 ancient and medieval Iranian antiquities, like pottery vessels, metal objects, and textile remains.  The oldest artifacts kept at the museum are from Kashafrud, Darband, and Shiwatoo, which date back to the Lower Paleolithic period There are also 9,000-year-old human and animal figurines from the Sarab mound in Kermanshah, among many other ancient artifacts.

Sadabad Palace

This 300-hectare palace, as one of Tehran museums, dated back to the Qajar era in the 19th century. It was home to the Qajar and Pahlavi monarchs. It includes mansions and palaces. Besides, it has 180 hectares of natural forest. As a visitor, you can pay a visit to several museums at the palace. However, other parts are in charge of Iran’s president.

The museum is one of Tehran attractions. It was opened in 1978 and named in memory of the luminious painter Reza Abbasi. It owns one of the richest historical and cultural collections.

Some 50000 Artefacts ranges from second millennium B.C.E. to the early 20th century. The three-floor building has pre-history, Islamic hall, miniature hall, calligraphy hall and a hall for short-term exhibition.

You can also find about 10000 volumes of books in Perisan, French, German, and English languages.

Historical baked clay, different kinds of oil and watercolor paintings, and golden rhyton are kept at the museum. The restoration department of the museum is one of the most professional ones in the country.

Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art

The museum is one of the richest museum of arts in Iran. Over 3000 artworks of 19th and 20th centuries are kept at the museum. It houses paintings, drawings, and sculptures by renowned European and American artists.

The artworks are on display in circular walkway galleries that make the museum’s building one of its attractions. The museum boasts artworks by world-renowned artists like Marc Chagall, Salvador Dalí, Henry Moore, Paul Jenkins, Arnaldo Pomodoro.

Paul Gauguin, Wassily Kandinsky,  Jackson Pollock, Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Vincent van Gogh, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, James Ensor, and Louis Valtat are amongst artists whose work are on display at the museum.

Moghaddam Museum

The museum is in the heart of Tehran. It is in fact a small beautiful garden with pomegranate trees and cedars. You can find gems, textiles, prehistoric objects, and splendid furniture in different parts of the museum. Tile works are under the limelight in different parts of the museum.

Moghaddam museum is a Qajar-era house. Later, Mohsen Moghaddam inherited the house. He was an archeologist and painter. So he combines his knowledge and art in this museum. It is a great break amid the turmoil of Tehran.

Tehran museums: Glassware and Ceramic Museum of Iran

Known as Abgineh Museum, it is a two-floor building that constructed during 1935-60.

Firstly, it was the Egyptian embassy, then it turns into the museum.

Nishapur ceramic of the early medieval era, 12th and 13th-century glassworks, and potteries from Takht-e Soleyman as well as ceramic and glasses of Safavid and Qajar eras are kept at the museum.
