Shiraz
By itself, Shiraz is one of the most important highlights of Iran which is never missed by tourists visiting the country. Apart from the atmosphere and kind, lovely people, the ancient and historical sites mainly remaining from the Achaemenid and Sassanid times are of the highest value for the visitors of this splendid city and its suburbs. During this one-day tour to the outskirts of Shiraz, we will visit Persepolis, Necropolis of Naghsh-e Rustam and Pasargadae, the ruins of the ancient greatest empire of the ancient world.
Driving to a World UNESCO Heritage Site of Pasargadae, we will pay a visit to the tomb of Cyrus the Great and also see the remains of the royal gardens and palaces of the Achaemenid dynasty.
Moving on and driving back towards Shiraz we will stop at another amazing UNESCO Heritage Site of Persepolis. Known as Takht-e Jamshid among Iranians, Persepolis used to be the ceremonial capital of the Persian Empire when Darius was ruling the country and located at a distance of about 60 km from the current city of Shiraz. There’s a lot to explore and we will spend quite a good time here after having our lunch.
After you get a deep understanding of the ancient Persian culture and history, we will move to the rock reliefs of Naghsh-e Rustam located a short distance from the glorious Persepolis. There are four tombs of great kings carved into the rock faces at a high distance from the ground.
Altogether, the tour is a great opportunity to explore the Achaemenid remains of the outskirts of Shiraz with good convenience by the accompany of a knowledgeable local guide.
Tour duration is from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
