As a nature-interested traveler, you will surely enjoy spending time in the north-eastern part of the country and visiting the region’s national parks and wildlife. Also, there are some really rare locations to be visited like the amazing cemetery of Khalid Nabi where you have the opportunity to visit a sacred shrine and the cemetery with its unique gravestones in a truly scenic view. The best time to visit is from April to May, however in other months during the year it’s also beautiful but less green. One of the most exquisite parks to be visited is Ghorogh Forest Park where is the main habitat for red deer.

Also, you will have the chance to see the Mirzabaylou Plain where you can see the densest population of Persian gazelles. One of the rarest experiences of a trip is spending time with locals of the region a person is traveling to. You will be hosted in a local house to have the second overnight stay and have a close contact with their lifestyle.

Golestan National Park is the home for a wide variety of animals, including 69 mammals, 150 birds, 24 reptiles and 2 amphibians. Prominent among the mammals are Persian leopard, brown bear, wolf, jackal, red fox, wild cat, wild boar, Caspian red deer, goitered gazelle, urial sheep and Persian ibex. As a mix of natural and cultural experiences, the tour gives you a great understanding of life in north-eastern Iran.

Itinerary

Day 1

Tehran / Minoudasht

After pick-up at your location, we’ll drive to the domestic airport of Mehrabad and fly to the north-eastern city of Gorgan. Upon arriving in Gorgan, we will drive to the unique cemetery of Khalid Nabi, located in the Gokcheh Dagh hills of Turkmen Sahra. We will explore the area while you have some time at leisure. In the afternoon, we’ll drive to the town of Minoudasht to stay overnight at a 4* hotel.

Day 2

The National Parks

Driving towards the Golestan National Park, we’ll have our breakfast en route and also pay a visit to Ghorogh Deer Park. We will also have an excursion to the wildlife museum of Maral where our lunch will be served at a local house. In the afternoon, we’ll continue our journey to the National Park of Golestan and will visit the Golestan and Aghsou Waterfalls. Spending time close to nature and having some tea, we will visit the habitat of goats and have dinner. Overnight will be camping in the national park.

Day 3

Golestan National Park

After breakfast, we will spend some time on the plain and do some trekking for about two hours. In the afternoon, we will drive to Mirzabaylou region to visit the wildlife in its neighborhood. Dinner will be served at a local house where will also be our overnight stay accommodation.

Day 4

Golestan / Tehran

We will have our breakfast early in the morning (at about 6:00) and drive towards Tangeh Gol Jungle. There will also be a visit of the waterfall of Adamchagheran and trekking for about three hours in nature. After having lunch, we will drive back to Gorgan. If there will be enough time, we will visit the historical tower of Gonbad-e Qabus en route. Arriving back in Gorgan, we will take our flight to Tehran.

- The first night will be spent in a 4* hotel, the second night will be camping in the Golestan National Park, and the last night we will accommodate in a local house. - Be sure to have comfortable trekking shoes and suitable clothing for a nature-based tour. Transportation will be in a private vehicle. - This tour can be operated all year round but the spring (April-July) and late summer (September) are the best times.

Iran Nature tour - Golestan national park

We had 4 days full of fun and unexpected stories. we set off from Tehran in early April with a group of 3 guys. me, my friend and the tour guide. they provide a private car for whole the journey from Tehran to go back Tehran. however we had long hiking which was exactly what we looking for. meet up with locals and try local cuisine in Golestan province. photography of deer in Golestan Park and camping outdoors. such a blessing to did that

Iran nature

There were only 2 of us in the tour, so it turned into a private tour which offered excellent value. Golestan is different from what you see in Iran, it has a certain untouched beauty and charm. The trekking was absolutely breathtaking with the view of the mountain ranges! Will definitely recommend this if you have a long stay in Iran and don't know where else to go.

National park tour

A group of 4 pax with our tourguide/driver. We been picked up in Tehran and went to experience some off-beaten path of Iran. the highlights for me were Golestan park and trekking. There is no local network in some area but still is manageable as our tour guide was quite familiar with everything. The car name I do not know as it was not brand new but no issue during our trip
