Overview

Yazd is known as the city of wind catchers and mud-brick homes and when standing on a rooftop, we will face an amazingly unique landscape in front. In this tour, we will visit the highlights of Yazd, letting ourselves see the city like a local for just one day. From the burial wells of Zoroastrians and their fire temples to the great Jameh Mosque of the city and the old famous district known as Fahadan.

This one-day city tour of Yazd provides the opportunity for every participant to get a deep understanding of the local culture and traditions that came to life by its inhabitants throughout centuries.

Visiting the Towers of Silence, we will learn about the burial customs and traditions of the Zoroastrians in the old times, and what their beliefs were. The story will take us to the fire temple in the city where is one of the most important sacred places of Zoroastrians. Being a religious place, we will see a flame of the sacred fire, learn about the holy book of Avesta along with religious rituals of Zoroastrians.

We will continue our exploration of the city by visiting the Dowlat Abad Garden. With a history of almost 260 years, the garden is one of the oldest gardens of the region and home to the world’s largest wind-catcher. There are also several edifices with fantastic architecture and colorful windows inside the garden. After having lunch in one of the greatest restaurants in Yazd, we keep on our exploration of the city and visit the old congregational mosque with its highest minaret. Also, we will stroll in the old district of Yazd known as Fahadan and explore the more authentic lifestyle of its residents.

Afterward, the Amir Chakhmaq Complex is on our list. The complex is located in Amir Chakhmaq Square and apart from its splendid architecture, it’s surrounded by the bazaar. You can do some shopping here and see the well-known handicraft of Yazd, Termeh.

City daily tour

The tour guide explained in detail the historical deeds of the ancient city! Help us take pictures! The food in the rooftop cafe was average but it was an amazing muddy old town.
