Overview

This three-week tour is a great chance to discover many cultural and natural attractions throughout the country from the northern to the western, southern and central Iran. As some of the truly unique experiences of this trip will be the exploration of the Caviar Aquaculture Farm in the north, Saffron Farm and Pistachio gardens in central Iran.

Starting from Tehran and visiting the highlights of the capital, we will drive to the northern parts of the country. Apart from getting familiar with the lifestyle and amazing cuisine of the area, we will visit the spectacular village of Masouleh and enjoy the green landscapes all around northern Iran. Driving to north-western Iran, we will visit Ardebil and Tabriz with hot natural spas in Sarein and the breathtaking rocky village of Kandovan close to Tabriz.

Later on, driving towards the southern parts of the country we will visit the cities of Takab, Hamedan, Zanjan, Kermanshah and get to Shushtar ancient town. Except for the cultural intangible experiences, there are some great highlights of the country en route, including Ali Sadr Cave, Takht-e Soleyman (Throne of Solomon), Zanjan Anthropology Museum, Soltanieh Dome, Bisotun Inscriptions and Taq-e Bostan rock reliefs.

In the southern part, we will visit the ancient cities of Shushtar and Susa and drive to Shiraz, the world-known city for its greatest poets Hafiz and Saadi. Staying in Shiraz for 3 nights, we have the chance to explore the city center and suburbs of the splendid Shiraz.

The tour will continue to central Iran and the cities of Kerman, Yazd and Isfahan with all their specific attractions including Persian Gardens, citadels, mosques, bazaars, palaces and amazing villages. The final spot will be the town of Kashan, famous for its historical houses belonging to Qajar era and well-known merchants of then.

During this 22-day tour, the total number of 14 UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the country will be visited apart from all the other cultural and natural attractions. One of the most exquisite highlights will be the variety in lifestyle, cuisine and landscapes throughout the whole trip.

Itinerary

Day 1

Tehran

Arrive in Tehran. Meet and assist upon arrival and transfer to your hotel. City tour of Tehran visiting the highlights of the downtown including the Golestan Palace, Tehran Grand Bazaar and the National Museum of Iran. In the late afternoon, we will pay a visit to the Tabiat Bridge (Nature Bridge) in Ab-o Atash Park. Overnight in 3* hotel.

Day 2

Tehran/Fuman

Drive to Fuman, in the northern Iran in the morning. During the road trip, we will have the chance to explore the green landscapes of the northern parts of the country and get familiar with the lifestyle of its locals. Overnight in 4* hotel in Fuman.

Day 3

Fuman/Anzali

Drive to Anzali after having breakfast, en route visit of the old charming village of Masouleh with its spectacular architecture and locality. In the afternoon we will visit Anzali Sturgeon Caviar Aquaculture Farm. Overnight in 3* hotel in Anzali.

Day 4

Anzali/Sarein

After breakfast, we will explore the Anzali Lagoon as one of the eighteen international lagoons of Iran and home to hundreds of different birds and plant species. In the afternoon, we will drive to Sarein and you will have some leisure time to enjoy the hot springs of the town. Overnight in a local house in Sarein.

Day 5

Sarein/Tabriz

Drive to Tabriz in the morning. Excursion to Kandovan Rock Village to visit the wonderful architecture of the village and its man-carved homes in the mountains. In the late afternoon, we will drive to Tabriz and pay a visit to El Goli in the city. Overnight in 4* hotel in Tabriz.

Day 6

Tabriz/Tabkab

Drive to Takab in the morning and exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Takht-e Soleyman (Throne of Solomon). Overnight in a 2* hotel in Takab.

Day 7

Takab/Zanjan

After having our breakfast, we will drive to Zanjan and do sightseeing of the attractions of the town. The visit will include, Zanjan Anthropology Museum (known as Rakhshoor Khaneh), Soltanieh Dome as one of the biggest domes in the world, and exploration of the Salt Man Museum. Overnight in a 2* hotel in Zanjan.

Day 8

Zanjan/Hamedan

Drive to Hamedan in the morning. The town is the home to one of the finest caves in the world, Ali Sadr Cave. The visit will take some time till the afternoon when we will visit the Ganjnameh Ancient Inscriptions and its waterfall. Overnight in a 2* hotel in Hamedan.

Day 9

Hamedan/Kermanshah

Driving to the city of Kermanshah in the morning, we will visit the Temple of Anahita en route and the attractions of Bisotun Inscriptions which are telling the story of the battles Darius waged in 521-520 BC against the governors who attempted to take apart the Empire, and Taq-e Bostan meaning Arch of the Garden. Overnight in a 2* hotel in Kermanshah.

Day 10

Kermanshah/Shushtar

After having breakfast at the hotel, we will drive to Shushtar where is an ancient city in the southern Iran and well-known for its Historical Hydraulic System and Chogha Zanbil ziggurat (both are among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites). Overnight in local house in Shushtar.

Day 11

Shushtar/Shiraz

Drive to Shiraz, en route visit of Tang-e Chogan where used to be the place of polo game for the Sasanian kings in the old times. Overnight in 4* hotel in Shiraz.

Day 12

Shiraz

Full day city tour of Shiraz to explore the city and visit of the Eram garden, Nasir al-Mulk Mosque, Vakil Complex, Karim Khan Citadel and the tombs of the great poets of Hafiz and Sa’adi. Overnight in 4* hotel in Shiraz.

Day 13

Shiraz

Excursion to the outskirts of Shiraz to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Persepolis, the ceremonial palace of Darius, Pasargadae (the tomb of Cyrus the Great) along with the Necropolises of Naghsh-e Rustam and Naghsh-e Rajab. Overnight in 4* hotel in Shiraz.

Day 14

Shiraz/Kerman

Drive to Kerman after breakfast, en route visit of Sarvestan Palace and the Jame Mosque of Neyriz. Arrive in Kerman and overnight in 3* hotel.

Day 15

Kerman

Full day city tour of Kerman and its suburbs, visiting Ganjali Khan Caravanserai and Bath house, Shazdeh Garden as one of the finest examples of Persian Garden and Shah Nematollah Vali Shrine. Overnight in 3* hotel in Kerman.

Day 16

Kerman/Yazd

Drive to Yazd after breakfast, en route exploration of pistachio harvest near Rafsanjan along with a visit to Zein-o Din Caravanserai. Overnight in a 4* hotel in Yazd.

Day 17

Yazd

Full day city tour of Yazd, visiting the Jame mosque, Amir Chakhmaq Complex and the old Zoroastrian Fire Temple, Bagh-e Dolat Abad which is another UNESCO-listed Persian Garden that has one of the tallest wind towers of the country and Towers of Silence. Overnight in a 4* hotel in Yazd.

Day 18

Yazd/Isfahan

Drive to Isfahan in the morning, en route visit of the towns of Meybod and Narin Castle, along with the Jame Mosque of Nian and Pirnia House. Overnight in 4* hotel in Isfahan.

Day 19

Isfahan

Tour the beautiful city of Isfahan, enjoy visiting its famous square, Naghsh-e Jahan Square and the attractions surrounding it (Ali Qapu Palace, Imam Mosque, Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque and the Gheisariyeh Bazaar. Overnight in 4* hotel in Isfahan.

Day 20

Isfahan

City tour to visit the Chehel Sotoun Palace, the Armenian Cathedral of Vank in Jolfa district of Isfahan and the Music Museum of Isfahan. In the afternoon, we will pay a visit to the old bridges of Isfahan Si-o Se Pol and Pol-e Khaju. Overnight in 4* hotel in Isfahan.

Day 21

Isfahan/Kashan

Drive to Tehran and en route visit of the mountain village of Abyaneh which is also known as the Red Village. Arrive in Kashan and visit of the attractions of the town including the Fin Garden, Boroujerdi House and Agha Bozorg Mosque. Overnight in 4* hotel in Kashan.

Day 22

Kashan/Depart

Exploration of the saffron harvest near Kashan in the morning. After having lunch, drive to the IKA airport to depart from the airport.

The tour starts in Tehran by picking you up from the IKA airport and finishes in Tehran by drop off at the IKA airport.

In high season months like April, May, September, and October hotels, tours and driver guides will be sold out very soon. Hence, it is better to book your trip as soon as you can.

Road trip Iran tour

3 weeks is just nice if you want to see Iran's classic history of Shiraz and Isfahan and also the amazing off-beaten of Iran with their unique and hospitable culture. Our tour guide Mr Afshani was very friendly, had good command on English and history. he was very patient throughout our picture sessions and all 😍

An amazing experience in my whole life with a few neglectable issues during trip. whatever remains for me from Iran trip is my love and passion for Persian culture and my eagerness to come back after covid again.

Iran tour 3 weeks

This tour was great value for money. Good length of time. Local driver and guide very friendly. Mini bus was air conditioned. Nice small group of 12. Actual order of sights sometimes varied from the printed itinerary but got to see everything. Hotels were mostly excellent all things considered.
