Many tourists love to experience tasting local foods of the country they are traveling to, but some will only travel to taste foods! In this 8-day Persian food tasting tour, we will travel in northern and north-western Iran with our main focus on exploring local foods of every region. Every corner of Iran has its own variety of cuisine and specialty, with different flavors from sweet to sour. This tour will also give us the chance to explore some behind-the-scene food experiences which are not available in other classic tours!
Starting from the capital city of Tehran, we will start tasting Iranian food by the most well-known one, Dizi or Abgousht. Later on, moving to the north-west of the country, we will get to know the culture and food of Azeris in Tabriz. The city is famous for its variety of sweets from which Nougat is the world-famous one. We will also taste Koofte Tabrizi as local food in the area. Moving to Ardabil, we will taste some famous local stews like Ashe Dough (made with vegetables and yogurt), Ashe Miveh (Fruits stew) and Torshi Garma.
The next destinations are close to the Caspian Sea beach, some green cities with their special nature. We will taste a special-made cookie known as Kolouche Fooman and visit the local bazaar of Rasht. Rasht is a UNESCO registered city as the creative city of gastronomy. We have the opportunity to taste Kateh Kebab, Baghali Ghatogh, Mirza Ghasemi and Torshi Kebab (Sour Kebab). The last city is Qazvin, where we will taste Qeimeh Nesar a special stew containing different nuts like pistachio and served with white rice.
Altogether, we will taste the foods including Aabgousht, Koofteh Tabrizi, Ash-e Dough, Ash-e Miveh, Torshi Garma Stew, Mirza Ghassemi, Baghali Ghatogh, Qeimeh Nesar along with sweets and snacks of the cities we are visiting.
