Overview

Due to the diversity in climate and ethnic groups, there is a wide range of variety in cuisine throughout Iran. From the north to the south and east to the west, you can explore different flavors and tastes. One of the very specific culinary tours you can experience is in the village of Taft in Yazd, close to the central desert of Iran.

Taft is a well-known village for its Zoroastrian community and fruit gardens. During this food tour experience, we will walk in the village with stops at the local bakery and grocery stores to buy the ingredients we need for our cooking. Later on, we will move to a private garden where we’ll prepare a traditional breakfast after picking fruits.

After having our breakfast, we’ll start cooking our Zoroastrian meal. While making the food, our expert guides will teach us the cultural traditions and rituals of this ancient religion.

Tour duration will be from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Persian food

We really enjoyed this tour and learning about the local foods and dishes. Food was delicious and the guide was knowledgeable. However, we would have loved to have ventured outside of the central market a bit as well as trying some of the local sweets and desserts.

Yazd food

Such a fantastic experience. You learn how to select the right ingredients to use in authentic local Persian recipes, and end up with a true feast to share with your family or friends. The team are just so friendly and such expert. You get to cook and eat in an amazing outdoor riverside location. I researched all cooking classes in the area and ‘Anyone Can Cook’ delivered an excellent all-round experience.

Cooking tour

This was a fun experience. It would be nice to have it a bit more hands-on though (my learning style). For most of the dishes I watched the chef do the work. Having each of us make a smaller version of the dish instead of the chef making one dish is a nice way to learn. Delicious recipes made!
