Free walking tours are one of the best practices for getting deep into the culture of the country. During this Old Tehran Free Walking Tour, we will learn about the history of Iran from 3000 BC up to now. From the past till the appearance of Islam and how it affected the Iranian lifestyle. Visiting one of the oldest neighborhoods of Tehran, your guide will talk about the Islamic-Iranian city structure and how the bazaar used to be one of its core elements.
Moving to Tehran Grand Bazaar to stroll in and discover local shops of the city, we will have the chance to learn more and more about the oriental lifestyle of the past and current residents of the city. Later on, while walking and exploring the area, we will visit the Shah Mosque as an essential construction of Qajar era and then the Jewish Quarter and a synagogue on the route of our tour. Also, we will see the first bank of Iran, a holy shrine of an Islamic figure (Imamzadeh Yahya Shrine) and a water reservoir.
Due to being the heart of the city since 1786 when it was chosen as the capital of Iran, the neighborhood has a lot to explore. We will try to show you the most important highlights while your guide is giving you amazing information about the whole history the area has been through.
Tour duration is from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and it takes place on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays.
