Nomad & Culture
Iran
During this seven-day hiking and camping adventurous tour in Iran, you will have the opportunity to indulge in the nomadic culture of the country while they are having their migration (Kooch in Persian).
The experience is living with the nomads during their seasonal migration which happens twice a year. Once in winter when they start living at lower altitudes in plains of Khuzestan and the second in spring, when it gets warmer and they get back to their summer pastures by crossing the Zagros Mountains. They pack up their all belongings and head to the mountains of 4000-meter peaks leading their goats and sheep.
About 25% of Iran’s population was living a nomadic life until 100 years ago. Bakhtiari nomads have been ruling over the Zagros Mountains for thousands of years as dynasties vanished one by one. Migration is the most spectacular aspect of their lifestyle and this tour is an opportunity for every responsible traveler to participate in. While on the tour, you will spend the night with them in their tents, pass through valleys and rivers, shepherd along the Zagros mountain ranges, see authentic historical sites and make friends with nomads.
The tour will help you in having a much better and deeper recognition of the Bakhtiari nomad’s lifestyle and also, it provides a supplementary income for them. This tour is having a challenging activity level and includes hiking, trekking, camping and visiting historical and urban sites.
It will start from Ahvaz International Airport (after taking a domestic flight from Tehran to Ahvaz) and end in Isfahan after 7 days and 6 nights.
